Travel diary: Bangkok, Thailand – Revolving roof deck

After spending our second day in Thailand visiting a few of Bangkok’s temples, we freshened up and took some pictures on our hotel’s balcony before heading to dinner. Since we dined in our hotel’s vicinity the night before, we figured we’d step it up a bit and do something fancier for our second night in this culture rich city. Once I heard we could have dinner at a rooftop, I was all game but I could not have predicted how great of an experience it was going to be.

But first, the outfit

I realized that when I traveled to Dubai last year, I brought way too many fancy outfits and not enough casual clothes so this time around, I was adamant about bringing more basic pieces that I could dress up a bit with my accessories. [Check out my packing tips here] I barely even wore heels during this trip but being practical doesn’t have to mean taking time off from being fabulous. My shorts and leopard print top are both from H&M. This Michael Kors Jetset travel crossbody bag is the perfect sized bag because it fits my wallet and essentials effortlessly. My Sassy Jones Boutique pearl sunglasses stole the show and made the look appear more sophisticated.

I absolutely love my sister’s outfit. The color combination was just perfection or as we say around here: Versicolor Approved! 🙂

Dinner

Dinner was served buffet style and afterwards, we were able to step onto the deck which was revolving the whole time and gave us a 360 degree view of the entire city.

The views

Listen, no words can explain the views from this revolving roof top deck . If you’re in Bangkok, visiting the Baiyoke Sky hotel – Thailand’s tallest tower – is a must. We booked this through our hotel and were picked up in a mini bus. After dinner, we were able to step onto the deck which was revolving the whole time and gave us a 360 degree view of the entire city. It was breathtaking! Pictures really can’t do the views justice but the icing on the cake is that “I’m on top of the world feeling” (literally and figuratively) that is really just good for the soul.

If you’re thinking that it would be nauseating to have the floor under your feet spinning as you’re already hundreds of feet up from the ground, worry not. We didn’t feel a thing since the spinning was slow and steady. The views took our breath away but the best part of the trip was yet to come. I had been looking forward to visiting the floating market and also riding an elephant for the first time. So stay tuned for day 3’s recap. It gets even better 🙂
