Dressing up winter layers | Book review: Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

books to read this year, book suggetion, great christian books

Earlier this year, I mentioned that I would read a book a month during 2018. I had it all figured out. I would read 30 minutes a day everyday and before January was over, I would be done and ready to start my next book. I mean I’ve heard of people reading a book during the course of one day by never putting it down so my plan couldn’t be that impossible to achieve. Sigh! It took way longer than I thought to finish it but nonetheless, my goal was to read and I read. Sure I can do better next time, but as I love to remind myself, the goal is progress not perfection.

I discovered Priscilla Shirer in 2015 when I first watched War Room. If you haven’t seen that movie, I highly recommend it. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed it so much that I started looking into the lives of the directors and the cast and realized that the lead actress was a minister whose sermons on Youtube were literally life changing. This book was inspired by the movie and it is also a life changing read. As you can see on the cover, Fervent is “a woman’s battle plan for serious, specific, and strategic prayer.” The main message that I got from it is that many of the battles that we fight in our lives tend to be schemes by the devil to distract us. The author did such an amazing job breaking down 10 major areas of our lives that the devil attacks and thoroughly explained why strategic Prayers Release All Your Eternal Resources.

If your passion, your focus, your identity, your family, your past, your fears, your purity, your pressures, your hurts and relationships are areas that you need help with, then this book is for you. After reading it, you will stop harboring unforgiveness towards people who’ve wronged you and instead truly see that the devil is the real enemy attacking your relationships. You’ll learn to extend grace to those who you don’t think deserve it. You’ll even reclaim your time and identify the distractions that keep you from your purpose. Your eyes will be opened, your mind will be renewed and your prayers will be strategic from here on out… You can find the book here. Happy reading!

About the look

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT!!! Seriously, I love how simple it is, yet how stylish and practical it is as well. Layering during the coldest months can prove to be a daunting task for some but this look shows how effortless and chic layers can be. Search your closet and throw on your pretty tops underneath your sweaters and accessorize with a colorful coat, your favorite rings and cute booties… and just like that, you put together an outfit you didn’t have to shop for. Where would you wear this outfit to?
