“The skater dress”

Hello everyone,
I have been meaning to get a skater dress for the longest but they all seem to be too short for my long legs. I pray that the fashion gods will let me stumble on a longer version before summers’ end. Tall girl problems. Sigh! Anyway, I love the floral prints on this dress so much that I was compelled to create a set and give you guys some ideas on how to rock this trend for the summer. It can be dressed up or dressed down – all depending on how you choose to accessorize. Experiment away!

“Birthday dinner”

“God gave us the gift of life; it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.” -Voltaire

Hello everyone!

If you are following me on Facebook and Instagram , you would have noticed that my birthday was this past weekend – on Mother’s day! I had such an awesome time celebrating with family and friends. I am beyond THANKFUL for another year of life, of health and countless other blessings and when I say thankful, I strongly mean that.

May 12th has always been a happy day for me because my birthday is like my personal holiday; but since 2010, after the devastating earthquake that occurred in my home country (Haiti) on January 12th, 2010, this date has been bittersweet. Everyone I know who is from Haiti lost someone on that fateful day whether it was a family member or a friend and in some cases, multiple victims made up of a combination of the two. For me, January 12th, 2010 took away a cousin who was very dear to me – more like a sister – a twin as we often referred to each other due to the fact that we were born on the same day, in the same hospital, 15 minutes apart. Sometimes I think of her and I wonder why I continue to celebrate birthdays whereas her family and I simply hold on to memories of her – wishing she were still among us.

I am not simply lucky. I am blessed to be here to fulfill a special purpose and to live a full life. For that reason I continue to celebrate our special day although she is gone. I must make her proud by trying my best to aspire to inspire before I expire. *RIP & Happy birthday L.P. *

This is what I wore to dinner:

Outfit details: Crop top: Necessary Clothing | Bedazzled skirt: H&M (sold out) I am also wearing a longer skirt under the bedazzled one because I wanted a high waist/crop top look. Have to be creative sometimes (affordable sequins skirt here or here. | Rings: Prima Donna (jewelry boutique in Manhattan – Love their accessories) | Shoes: Zara (available in blue, coral and black)

“Royally coral”

Hello everyone,

I wore this dress to a little princess’ First communion reception last weekend. At first, I fell in love with the embellished neckline, but then the color was just the icing on the cake. Because of said neckline, I decided to keep my accessories to a minimum but paired the dress with royal blue shoes for an unexpected twist.

I didn’t expect it to be so short at first glance but I’m guessing my long legs didn’t help matters. Hopefully I’ll stumble upon a longer version because I simply adore the simplicity of the dress which displays a certain elegance and sophistication.

“Embellished LBD”

Hello VersiDivas & Gents,

I wore this dress over two weeks ago to a friend’s birthday celebration but couldn’t upload the pictures since I misplaced my camera’s USB cord. Ugh!

But anyway, my girls and I, have been to Tropical Grill in Queens countless times, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had recently renovated the place. The new lounge exudes a more modern and upscale vibe and also offers a lot more room for dancing to the beats of great African music and also many tracks currently topping the charts. The only downside would be the endless amount of smoke bursting in the air all night long. It does nothing but blur my pictures – which is a bit annoying in my opinion:-/

About the dress: I was so excited last year when I placed the order for this dress as it was on sale (50% off). As soon as I received my confirmation email, the dress disappeared off the site – which simply means I purchased the last one. (Score! Yay me!) I absolutely love the embellishments on it: They are so unique and the snake skin print around the waist and neck line adds an extra touch that makes me love the dress that much more. It really is designed beautifully and fits very well.

I wish the picture quality was better but I hope you guys enjoy this post anyway.

“Twirling against the wind – Night look”

On countless occasions, I leave for work in the morning and have plans to go out that night without the option of coming home to change. As a result, I usually bring different accessories and shoes to revamp my look for the evening without having to change my entire outfit. That is what inspired this two-part look. In my last post “Twirling against the wind – Day look” I wore this dress with flats for a laid back feel.

But this time around, I added a blazer, a comfortable pair of heels, a nice clutch and also changed the stud earrings to a drop chandelier pair. This can be easily done even if you were wearing jeans in the daytime. A blazer always adds that extra touch of sophistication to uplift an outfit so in my opinion, it should be a staple in every woman’s wardrobe.

“A night of Fashion & Creativity”

Disclaimer: Pictures in this post are not mine. They are all taken from skipdaline.com.

Hairstylist Ronald Calder outdid himself at the Irie Fashion show that was held at the Resort World Casino in Queens on April 28th, 2013. Models were seen with very unique styles where they rocked a variety of household items on their head. The best part: They’re all made out of hair! In the pictures below, I can be seen with a shoe in my hair and other models had telephones and radios for hairdos among other things.

The amount of creativity and talent it takes to achieve such looks (though I wouldn’t suggest them for everyday wear lol) is out of this world. Ronald is a true styling genius and I am blessed to have met him and worked with him on several occasions.

If you are in the New York area and would like to get your hair done by Ronald or to see more pictures of his creations, please visit his Facebook page here.

“Twirling against the wind – Day look”

This post has so many things that I love. You just can’t go wrong with a flowy dress that has gorgeous prints and colors and most of all allows you to twirl. The little girl in me came out and was twirling nonstop during this shoot.

I got this little number at a local boutique last year on the sale rack. Those unique finds get me so excited because they’re usually available in just one size and when there is just one left, I feel as if I’m the only girl in the world who owns one. Do you guys ever feel that way when shopping? Come on! Admit it. I know I can’t be the only one.

Anyway, in my next post, I will show you how to wear this same dress for a night out on the town. It’s very versatile so it can be worn many ways. Enjoy!
