6 year blogiversary – How I have grown over the years

6 years ago today, I started on this little adventure to share my colorful style on the internet and it has been one lesson-filled journey of growth in so many aspects. When I look back at some of my photos from 2012, my initial thought is to wonder why anyone followed me back then because some of these looks were underwhelming for lack of a better word. But in an attempt to focus on the positive side of things, I’ve learned to appreciate the process and reflect on the growth instead.

As I shared in my 5 year blogiversary post, starting a new adventure while afraid and full of uncertainty will always be greater than procrastinating no matter what excuse we use. As I am typing this, I am feeling the conviction from procrastinating on starting a YouTube channel because I don’t feel ready, I’m afraid and it’s just easier not to be bothered with more work. But as uncomfortable as it is to admit, I must stand in my truth, because that’s the only way to remain authentically me. I digress…

I have grown as a person, as a Christian, and as a blogger over the course of the years and blogging has allowed me to document said growth. It has been a real honor to take you with me as my style continues to evolve and as I nourish myself with positive content that I can in turn share with you all.

The above quote couldn’t have been more perfect for this point in my journey for I have indeed asked God to bless my blog with explosive success but instead, He’s chosen to teach me discipline for without consistent effort, consistent results cannot be expected. I have prayed for prosperity but instead learned to persevere without complaining for “we must not become weary in doing good for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9) And even when I asked for growth, He allowed it in a different way than I had envisioned but topped it with grace.

About the look: Just a simple midi dress from H&M (previously worn here) that I layered under a sheer pearl number. To finish the look, I rocked these gorgeous Zara bow pumps and also layered a blush faux fur vest over a jacket of the same color. Simple, chic & most importantly warm!

A special shout out to mom who has been my rock every step of the way. Look how stylish she is! Thank you for everything mama!

6 years in, I now know that the accolades and the money that can come as a result of being in this space will never be fulfilling without purpose. I pray to never lose sight of what’s important and I pray that you’ll be here as this site continues to be used as a platform to reach people with the love of Christ.

May my journey remind you all that as long as every move you make moves the needle, then you are growing and that’s sometimes all that matters. When you realize that you’re not yet where you want to be, may your perspective be changed to see that you also aren’t where you used to be and that progress will always be greater than perfection.
