In the beginning of quarantine, I would just work in my pajamas. When I realized that strategy (or lack thereof) was not beneficial to my productivity, I tried to get dressed in the morning by simply throwing on a pair of shorts and a tank top only to find that all of my shorts no longer fit. Your girl got thick and couldn’t be more proud of her grown woman body (insert evil laugh) but that also meant I had to get rid of over a dozen pairs of shorts.
Then came the time to purchase new ones. Now that I’m a woman of a certain age (ehem) short shorts no longer fit my lifestyle. So is there such a thing as a classy / timeless pair of shorts? I think so. Here’s what I was looking for:
Length
Shorts don’t have to be knee length to be classy but the closer to my knees, the better.
Fit
Tight shorts just feel really uncomfortable and nobody needs that kind of negativity in their lives. High-waist and loose fitting styles were a more my speed. When styling them, remember to create balance. If your bottoms are on the fitted side, pair them with a loose fitting top. And if they are more loose, they’ll go perfectly with a fitted bodysuit or tank top.
Fabric
Denim cut offs were all the rave for me once upon a time, but now I prefer non denim styles that I can wear at home, to a small gathering, with flats and with heels. They can be real casual if you want them to but they can easily be elevated like I did in today’s post.
When I stumbled across this pair from Zara with the gold button details, I was quite pleased. They were available in an array of pretty colors and cost less than $40. I only got two pairs since we’re nearing the end of summer but I expect to rock them for years to come.
I’ve already told you guys how amazing muscle tees were. When I saw this satin version, I just had to get it. It fits so well and looks so lux. Get it here. My handbag is from Kate Spade and my heels are by Calvin Klein. Similar white heels here. I’m also considering these white mules.
