In this post, we talked about how reading plans can help in our quest of growing closer to God. Thankfully we live in the digital era where technology has made it even easier for us to connect with God but quietly listening to the Holy Spirit’s gentle whisper doesn’t just happen by accident. We tend to assume that God isn’t speaking or that hearing from Him is a special privilege awarded to a selected few. Meanwhile, God is longing to fellowship with us – if only we made the time to actually commune with Him.
I personally still struggle with consistently making the time to sit quietly in God’s presence. Part of the reason is because my days, like yours are full but that should be no excuse because we find time to do many other things that don’t exactly serve us. We have to be intentional about scheduling quiet time and actually doing it even when we don’t feel like it.
In addition to reading Bible plans, there are many Christian podcasts that can help you better understand the Word or just start a conversation from a perspective you’ve never considered. Here are a few podcasts that I’ve recently been enjoying:
Jerry Flowers Podcast
This podcast tends to mostly focus on godly relationships but it does so in a way that is very educational yet engaging and powerful. His entire ministry Redefined TV is a breath of fresh air that helps us all unlearn toxic relationship ideologies. Whether it’s on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or the podcast, you’ll enjoy it everything associated with Mr. Flowers and his beautiful wife.
Dressed for Battle podcast
This podcast is by the talented Tarah-Lynn Saint-Elien. We befriended each other on Instagram and met in real life at a blogger event in 2019. She has used her platform as the ministry that it is and invites other women of God to share their inspiring stories. She recently became an author and shared the testimony behind how that happened on her YouTube channel.
30 minutes with the Perry’s
If you haven’t noticed by now, I LOVE Jackie Hill Perry. I have learned so much from how she studies the Bible by asking questions and allowing the text to answer them. In this podcast with her husband, Preston Perry, the couple fearlessly addresses difficult questions as we navigate life as Christians. Jackie’s hilarious personality allows her message to be memorable so definitely check out this podcast.
BONUS
WHOA that’s good – I have to admit that I haven’t listened to many episodes of this podcast yet but I have been following Sadie Robertson for a while so I trust that her conversations on the podcast will be beneficial for you. I actually discovered her podcast when she had a conversation with Pastor Michael Todd. So this recommendation is based solely on that episode. As soon as I was done listening, I subscribed. It was such a powerful conversation that I had to recommend the whole podcast as a bonus; I highly recommend you check it out.
I hope you enjoy these types of posts and I pray that the Lord directs you to more ways to hear from Him. Simply be open to listen and be willing to be used by Him. Remain blessed!
Until next time,
Great recommendations! Redefined TV and the Perry’s are some of my favs.
