I’m one of those people who take my time to make decisions. Part of this is because of a fear of failing so to decrease the risk of messing something up, I spend way too much time in the planning phase. But recently, I was reading “The 15 invaluable laws of growth” by John C. Maxwell and discovered The Law of Diminishing Intent…
The Law of Diminishing Intent says that “The longer you wait to do something you should do now, the greater the odds that you will never actually do it. “
Man, they should’ve just tagged me. I read it and just knew that message was for me… To add to that, 2020 has shown us what we already knew in more ways than one and it is the fact that life is short. We were saddened by the sudden deaths of Kobe, Gigi Bryant and their friends and more recently Chadwick Boseman. These people that we grew to love over the years probably planned to live a long life until retirement age but that was just not part of their destiny.
The same could ring true for us. We do not know what tomorrow holds so we cannot waste time doing the things we need to do. I won’t ramble for long and state the obvious in different ways but I just wanted to emphasize the “Just do it” message. Just do it scared. Just do it unsure. Just do it before you’re ready. I’m talking to myself but I’m sure you need to hear it too because the bottom line is that we can’t risk never actually doing it.
Whatever it may be for you, let this serve as encouragement to get it from the planning phase to the execution phase. Make your mistakes fast so that you can reroute when necessary and get to the intended destination. No matter what it is, now is always the right time to begin, to fail forward, to grow. The only way for the fear to go away is by doing the scary thing and even then, does fear ever really dissipate? Probably not. You just get used to being uncomfortable and that is the place where magic happens! Let’s get moving friend. I’ll meet you at that magical place where we’re all living in our purpose!
Great message sis. Thanks for sharing. Just do it afraid.

Yes! It’s a message that bears repeating ‘cause we know what to do. But having the courage to do it is the hard part…
