In my devotion this morning, I was reading about Moses in Exodus where God asked him to go to Egypt to free the Israelites from the hands of Pharaoh. Moses told God that He should send someone else because he “has never been eloquent…” and that he is “slow of speech and tongue.”
(Ex 4: 10-17) I think we can all relate to Moses because we’ve felt unqualified to do something though our excuses may vary.
What we tend to forget is that no matter how ill equipped we may feel to obey what God is prompting us to do, the truth is that God always qualifies the ones He has called. He doesn’t need our resume before sending us on a mission. He simply needs our yes! God told Moses, “I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” That’s the part that’s difficult for us to accept. We know in theory that God is able but we don’t want to move out of our comfort zone and trust Him beyond what we can see and understand.
It’s easier for me to come on this blog and write about the Lord’s Sovereignty and convince you guys to trust in Him than it is to apply these same principles to my personal life. Many of us struggle with truly believing God in one area or another, but the part we also often miss is that God actually wants us to be empty vessels who are fully dependent on Him. There’s no good that can come in the absence of God so I think our weaknesses are there to remind us just how much He is our lifeline.
So as I battle on this journey to fully trust that God is able to do all that He says He would do even when my circumstances prove otherwise, I encourage you all to sit in the truth that “all you have is all you need.” You are equipped to take the first step in the direction He’s calling you to because “if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.” Matt 6:30
I’ve had this dress for years and have yet to stop loving it. I wore it here in 2016 with a blazer but this time I paired it with this sheer pearl duster, which gives off holiday vibes. Speaking of holidays, I hope that you guys are finding joy in the small things and that you can feel the holiday cheer despite the pandemic. My heart is with all of those who have lost someone and something dear to them during this difficult year.
