There are so many lies we tell ourselves daily when it comes to why we can’t do something or why we don’t qualify to be in a particular room, seated at a particular table.
“I’m not talented enough for this.”
“The market is too saturated.”
“I don’t have as much experience as so and so.”
Although these could be valid statements, they should not negate the fact that you have been called by God to fulfill a particular task so nothing should stand in the way of that. Take it from me who has made excuses for years as to why I couldn’t do anything that involves public speaking but constantly and consistently, I have been put in rooms and places where I have had to face this fear head on.
I recently listened to a sermon by the late Pastor Myles Munroe where he explained that hearing from God is simply “having an idea that does not leave you.” So the fact that I had been thinking of starting my Youtube Channel for nearly a decade was God leading me in a direction where He could use me. During that time though, all I did was come up with excuses as to why I couldn’t do it, how editing videos seemed too difficult and how I wouldn’t have the time to film consistently etc… At some point though, (especially in the middle of a pandemic) you run out of excuses and realize that your procrastination is wrapped up in fear and that it also is an act of disobedience.
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called.” Well, all that means is that He doesn’t need us to have a full resume to give us an assignment. He simply needs our yes because His strength is made perfect in our weakness. I strongly believe that our weaknesses, fears and shortcomings are needed to remind us of our need for full dependence on God. Even when we have all the talent in the world, we can do nothing good without God and we are nothing without Him.
In Matthew 9:37-38, Jesus said to his disciples: “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
To know that each one of us is a needed worker in the Lord’s business is simultaneously humbling and inspiring. Who are we that the God of the universe should be mindful of us? On the flip side, can you imagine getting to heaven and having to come up with excuses as to why God’s assignments for you were not completed? We really don’t have time to waste when it comes to fulfilling our promises to God and the assignments we’ve been called to complete. There are souls attached to our obedience, no matter what field we are gifted in. So today, let this be your encouragement to let go of the excuses. Renew your yes to God again and believe that if He called you to it, He will not let you go through it alone.
SHOP THE LOOK
This is quite a simple look that would be perfect for casual Fridays at the office or even a weekend brunch. I love these pants so much that I have ordered them in at least 5 colors and intend on getting more. Zara’s version is available in baby blue, coral (bright orange) and black for $49.90 but if you are on a budget, you can consider the more affordable alternative here from SheIn, available in 6 different colors for $27 each.
I previously styled these pants in this post so check it out for a color-blocking styling option. You can see how I styled the green version in 3 different ways towards the end of this video on my channel:
