Formal events are few and far in between for most of us so when they come around, we tend not to know where to shop. If you have a wedding or gala of some sort coming up, this post is for you. I’m sharing my favorite places to shop for unique gowns without breaking the bank especially considering the fact that these aren’t items that are worn more than a handful of times.
Windsor store
The dress in this post is from Windstor Store. They carry quite a few gowns that are below $100 so it is one of the first places I refer my readers who are on a budget when I am asked where to shop for formal events. Their sizes only go up to a large for most dresses so if you need bigger sizes, this may not be the store for you.
Lulu’s
I go to Lulu’s for more flowy dresses. What I love most about their site is the variety of color options available in each design. If you have a summer wedding to attend, then Lulu’s is the place to shop. Tall girls will love the length of their dresses but if you’re on the shorter side, you may want to order ahead of time and have your dress shortened because they are extra long even with heels. The site is super easy to navigate as you can search by trend, by length and even by occasion. If you’re getting married, you may even find something for your bridal party there.
Asos
This store is my first stop when I’m looking for clothes period. I love the fact that you can find a $10 dress listed right next to the $400 gown. Whatever your budget, Asos got something for you. You can also sort the dresses by length so whether you’re looking for mini, midi or maxi dresses, you can easily find what you need within the price range you desire. Asos also carries petite and tall options and they even have a collection of maternity dresses. If you’re on plus size, don’t feel left out: Asos Curves has so many pieces for the curvy ladies and best of all, their shipping is super fast considering they are based in the UK.
AQ/AQ
This store is my go to shop when I’m looking for birthday outfits and want to be extra. The red cape jumpsuit that I wore for my birthday in Dubai is from there. Their selections are not always affordable but during their annual sale, everything is marked down to more than 50% off so that’s a good time to shop their collection. The designs are usually in solid colors with fancy cut outs, capes or asymmetrical lengths which make a statement while still being timeless. Love them!
Nordstrom
I personally have never purchased a gown or formal dress from Nordstrom but when I am looking for items to link on the blog, I always seem to find fabulous options there. The prices vary and there’s a multitude of sizes as well so don’t count this department store out when looking to slay at your next formal affair.
I wore this dress to a wedding last year and got so many compliments. Surprisingly enough, I was not uncomfortable with the sequins because the dress was lined so well that nothing was itchy. I originally opted for rose gold heels which broke after the ceremony so I went back home and switched to the black ones instead to complete the look.
I hope you ladies found this post helpful and now know where to shop and slay on a budget. If you enjoy these types of posts, please let me know and I will continue sharing more websites you can shop from.
Until next time,
Just ordered shoes from Lulus and hey had grad selections on dresses! Just have to make more money before ordering! 😁
